Home to around 2,500 residents, Rancho Santa Fe is located about 30 minutes from downtown San Diego and about 25 minutes from Carlsbad. It is bordered to the northeast by unincorporated San Diego County, to the east by the Black Mountain Ranch neighborhood, to the southeast by the Fairbanks Ranch gated community, and to the southwest by Solana Beach.
Rancho Santa Fe may lack suburban style amenities, but it makes up for it with the fantastic schools serving the area. In fact, Rancho Santa Fe is ranked #1 for best schools in California and is ranked 11th in the US*. The city is also ranked #4 as the best suburb to raise a family in California*.
The city is served by three schools districts - San Dieguito Union High School District, Rancho Santa Fe Elementary School District, and Solana Beach Elementary School District - and all three are rated an A+*. The high school serving Rancho Santa Fe, is the Torrey Pines High School, rated an A+*. There are two middle schools serving the city - R. Roger Rowe Middle School and Earl Warren Middle school - both rated an A+*. And lastly, there are two elementary schools serving the city - R. Roger Rowe Elementary School and Solana Santa Fe Elementary School, rated an A+ and A respectively*.
Home Price Statistics
Not mentioned thus far, is the exclusivity of Rancho Santa Fe. Home to a lot of famous people, the home prices are certainly reflective of that. The median home sale price in Rancho Santa Fe is $4.8m. Compared to the $900k San Diego median, this city is quite higher. Currently on the market at the time of writing this, single-family homes range from $1.85m on the low-end, and holy moly, the highest priced comes in at a paltry $98.5m.
If you're interested in a condo or townhome, availability was very limited at the time of writing this, but prices ranged from $1.25m up to $1.98m. Lastly, most of the residents own their homes, with 80% vs 20% owning vs renting. And in terms of the celebrity population, large portions of this area are gated.
