Ocean Beach Vibes
Ocean Beach has that traditional SoCal vibe. It is home to around 20k residents and located about 10-15 minutes just northwest of downtown and the San Diego International Airport. Ocean Beach is bordered by the neighborhoods of Mission Bay and Mission Beach to the north, the Point Loma Heights neighborhood to the east, the Sunset Cliffs neighborhoods to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the west.
Ocean Beach Pier is a popular spot for fishing, while the beach itself is a popular surfing destination. Along Newport Avenue you will find tons of great spots to eat, drink, shop, and socialize. Not only will you find the cool local spots, but you'll also find the traditional spots like Starbucks and Target.
Rated the 6th best place for young professionals in the San Diego area and overall the neighborhood gets an A.* Served by the San Diego Unified School District, the schools here are very good. Point Loma High Schools gets an A, while all of the Middle and Elementary School options get an A or A-.*
Home Price Statistics
When compared to the San Diego median, homes in Ocean Beach are generally expensive with a median sale price of around $1.2m. That said, currently on the market the lowest priced single-family home comes in at $850k, while the highest priced comes in at $2.5m. In terms of condos/townhomes, the lowest priced currently on the market comes in around $400k and the highest comes in just over $2m. A fairly renter heavy neighborhood with about 71% of residents renting, with 29% owning a home.
