North Park Vibes
Home to about 52k residents and only about 10-15 minutes from downtown, North Park is a hip neighborhood with culture and a bustling arts community. Well maintained neighborhoods throughout and home to a beautiful historic district with great homes. Voted the 8th best place for young professionals in San Diego*. It has good public transportation and is fairly walkable and bike-able. Check out El Cajon Blvd, University Ave, and 30th street for all sorts of great spots to eat, drink, and shop at.
Served by the San Diego Unified School District. Schools serving the neighborhood are Hoover High School, Roosevelt Middle School, and McKinley, Garfield, and Jefferson Elementary Schools.
Home Price Statistics Home to mostly renters - 27% of residents own, while 73% own. Single family homes in North Park can range from as low as low-mid $600’s and all the way up to $2 million plus. For condo/townhomes, you’d be looking at the mid-$200’s on the low end, and upwards of $1 million on the high end.
Pros + Cons
Pros:
All the cool/hip spots you can need
A lot of beautiful historic homes and generally well-maintained homes and neighborhoods
Good schools generally speaking
Good hiking in the Switzer and Juniper canyons
Convenient to downtown
Cons:
Expensive housing with smaller houses and lot sizes
Not a ton of park spaces
Some less well taken care of spaces near the commercial areas
Parking can be tough around the commercial areas
The further south in the neighborhood you go, you will be in the flight path of airplanes, thus noise
