Updated: Apr 7, 2022

Today we're checking out the La Jolla neighborhood in San Diego, California!

Without a doubt one of the nicest spots in San Diego, La Jolla has some very impressive homes with stunningly beautiful coastline geography and incredible views, almost anywhere you're at in La Jolla is a cut above. Excited to show you this gem!

Let's get it!

La Jolla Vibes

Home to around 32k residents, La Jolla is located directly on the Pacific Ocean coastline about 20 minutes northwest of downtown San Diego, depending on traffic. The northern portion of La Jolla is also home to Torrey Pines, the community, beach and park reserve, and of course the golf course with the same name. It's also where the University of California San Diego is located.

Located to the north of La Jolla is the city of Del Mar. To the east is I-5 and the Carmel Valley, Sorrento Valley, University City, and Clairemont neighborhoods. To the south is the Pacific Beach neighborhood and to the west is the Pacific Ocean.

Served by the San Diego Unified School District which is rated an A-, but the schools in La Jolla are particularly excellent. Both La Jolla High School and University City High School are rated an A+ and all of the Middle and Elementary Schools are rated an A or A-.*

With UC San Diego located here, there is quite the transient population. The actual resident population is around that 32k mentioned before, but for example in the fall of 2021, there were approximately 140k applications for enrollment made to attend the school. It is the second most applied to University in the United States and you could see why the population would fluctuate.

Home Price Statistics

It's probably no surprise, but La Jolla housing is expensive. The median sales price is around $1.9m Currently the lowest priced single-family home on the market in La Jolla is $1.45m, while the highest priced home is a staggering $55m. In regards to condos/townhomes currently on the market, the lowest priced comes in at $525k and the highest at just under $5m.
